In 2009, after the Iranian post-election crackdown, a group of technologists coordinated to keep citizens’ Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, blogs, and email accessible and free from surveillance. That group coalesced into Access Now, which now organizes RightsCon (https://www.rightscon.org/) and runs a 24/7 Digital Security Helpline (https://www.accessnow.org/help/). We're working to ensure the internet remains an open and secure platform for the rights to privacy, free expression, freedom of assembly, and association.
