Job: Technical Copywriter at Matomo

We are seeking a talented and detail-oriented Technical Copywriter to join our team at Matomo. As a Technical Copywriter, you will be responsible for crafting clear, concise, and accurate copy for various channels including the Matomo SaaS web app, Matomo – The Google Analytics alternative that protects your data website pages, product-related emails, and FAQs describing product features.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Owners, UX designers, Software developers, software testers, and Marketing to ensure the delivery of high-quality and user-focused content.
The role will also involve coordinating the translation of copy into multiple languages by collaborating with third-party translation services.

Key Responsibilities

• Create engaging and user-friendly copy with a consistent brand voice and tone for:
  – The Matomo – The Google Analytics alternative that protects your data website (e.g., Knowledge Base, FAQs, etc.)
  – The Matomo SaaS web app
  – Product-related emails to users
  – FAQs
• Collaborate with Product Owners, UX designers, Software developers, software testers, and Marketing to gather requirements, understand product features, and develop effective copy strategies
• Conduct thorough research to understand complex technical concepts and transform them into easily understandable and actionable instructions
• Work closely with the Product development team to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the copy across different platforms and languages
• Coordinate the translation process with third-party translation services, ensuring timely and accurate delivery of translated content in multiple languages
• Participate in cross-functional meetings, providing input on content strategy, user experience, and product documentation.
• Review and edit existing copy to improve clarity, readability, and overall quality
  Stay up-to-date with industry trends, best practices, and advancements in SaaS products, copywriting, and agile working methodologies
• Maintain brand guidelines and style guides to ensure consistent messaging across all channels
• Assist in creating marketing materials, such as blog posts, whitepapers, and case studies, to support the promotion of Matomo products and features
  

Skills and Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail. Demonstrated experience in writing technical copy for SaaS products, ideally within the web analytics or data privacy sector. Proficiency in adapting complex technical concepts into clear and concise instructions for a non-technical audience
• Familiarity with agile working practices, such as Scrum, and the ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams. Strong organizational and project management skills to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Ability to work independently and proactively, taking ownership of projects and delivering high-quality results
• Familiarity with web analytics tools and concepts is a plus
• Experience with translation coordination and localisation processes is desirable
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, or a related field is preferred
